Is your vehicle an attraction to opportunist thieves? |
||
|
Dear Resident. Recently there have been several reports of thefts from motor vehicles. A rucksack that was left on a front seat of a parked, secure vehicle was stolen. The rucksack contained house keys, vehicle keys, and valuable electrical items. In another incident electrical tools were stolen from an unattended and secured van. This is a reminder not to leave valuable items in your vehicle when unattended. We would also advise to place items out of sight at all times. Items left on display are an attraction to opportunist thieves, even if the stolen rucksack had of been empty , the victim would still have had to sort out the damage caused by the offender(s) to gain access. Of course vans are designed to carry tools, we advise that that these should be removed when the vehicle is parked, particularly overnight. When vans are in use , and tools required to be on board van locks offering additional security can be fitted to help keep tools etc safe. More information on these locks can be found by visiting www.locksmiths.co.uk / van locks. For more vehicle , and general crime prevention advice please visit www.westmidlands.police.uk
